A Brief History

Jerren and Nimisha started GenUnity as graduate students at Harvard in 2019 to harness the energy we saw among our peers and in our communities to tackle inequities in our society and drive change.

Vision

Our vision is a community by everyone for everyone. A thriving society where:

• Individuals understand how their actions affect others, especially those with different lived experience
• Systems and policies reflect our values and shared humanity
• Everyone has the civic agency to shape individual and collective quality of life

To progress towards this vision, by 2030, GenUnity will have:

• Catalyzed 10,000+ everyday adults to become community leaders
• Contributed to measurable systems change through our members in communities across the country
• Unlocked $1B+ in annual investment to support individual and organizational civic wellbeing

To build an enduring, equitable society, we must support everyday people to critically evaluate, navigate, and drive change on our most urgent issues.

GenUnity’s mission is to do just that - strengthen the capacity of diverse, everyday adults to critically evaluate, navigate, and drive change on community issues, a capacity we call civic wellbeing.
